Inside a secret Mattituck garden: The Spin
The path to paradise does exist — and it can be found at the Landcraft Display Garden in Mattituck!
Though it’s used as a display garden for adjacent Landcraft Environments whole sale nursery, it really is pleasure garden for owners Dennis Shrader and Bill Smith. You literally feel like you are in Bali! They sell wholesale throughout the entire Northeast and experiment in their own garden. They even have a bananas tree growing there.
The nearly two-acre garden surrounds their restored 1840s farmhouse, and let me tell you, it is a wonderland on the North Fork.

You can see this slice of paradise for yourself during the Garden Conservancy’s Open Day program on July 11. The The tour runs from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at 1200 East Mill Road in Mattituck.
Admission is $7 at each private garden along the tour, which also includes a stop at Conni Cross Designer Garden in Cutchogue. All proceeds benefit the Garden Conservancy which aims to preserve outstanding American gardens.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting with Dennis and Bill to see their stunning garden in person. See the video below. Enjoy!
