The town of Mattituck is believed to have derived its name from the Native American name for the “Great Creek.” The Mattituck Creek has been dredged and is used extensively by pleasure craft on Long Island Sound. Mattituck hosts the Lion’s Club annual Strawberry Festival, this year marks its 57th year.
